NC Medical Board

NC General Assembly (General Statutes)

An invaluable link to learn the correct citations of statutes so that you can determine whether the letters are lower case or upper case, in parentheses or not. It’s also handy when an attorney or judge is quoting an actual statute. Look on the right hand side of the General Assembly home page for the statute search. You can also search the language of bills passed in the current or past sessions of the General Assembly and there is a directory of all House and Senate members.
North Carolina Industrial Commission
Provides correct spellings of names of commissioners and deputy commissioners and has their e-mail addresses, which you will need when you are sending electronic copies of depositions you have taken in IC cases. (See the FAQ page for more information about this.) Acronyms

Go to home page of university or college. There will usually be a listing of departments. Go to the correct department and look for a directory. Many universities and colleges have them on line. When experts mention the names of other experts and they don’t know how to spell them (which is usually the case), you can search for them this way. If the person you’re looking for is a well-known scientific researcher, trying Googling several different phonetic spellings of his/her name. It may take a few minutes, but you will often be successful in finding what you’re looking for.
